    Beginning End

    By Sam Tumblin

The hourglass cracked without a sound
    Silver sands fell upside down
    Seasons gathered in my hands
    Then vanished like forgotten lands

A blackened rose climbed through stone
Blooming where the light had flown
Its petals spoke in silent tongues
Of broken clocks and hollow lungs

The ocean drank the dying sun
As if the day had come undone
Waves carried fragments of my name
Back to a shore that never changed

Above the trees, the ravens spun
    Circles around a frozen one
A figure draped in tattered white
    Holding embers against the night

I followed stairways made of smoke
    Each step another promise broke
Doors appeared then turned to ash
Like memories that fade too fast

Yet in the ruins ivy grew
Through shattered glass and splintered truths
Its roots embraced what time erased
And carved new shadows into place

Perhaps the end was never death
But winter borrowing spring’s last breath
    A serpent shedding ancient skin
    To let another world begin

And somewhere far beneath the rain
Beyond the sorrow and the stain
A lantern flickered faint and dim
Still burning at the edge within

    Velvet Funeral By Sam Tumblin

    Velvet Funeral

The rain arrived without a sound,
Like silver needles to the ground.
Black roses bent beneath the storm,
As midnight wrapped the earth in mourn.

I saw your shadow near the gate,
    A memory preserved by fate.
Your velvet dress, your distant stare,
    Still lingered like forgotten prayer.

    Candles drowned in crimson wax,
Beside the names carved deep in black.
Each flame became a dying star
    Burning softly from afar.

    The cemetery breathed with frost,
    Counting every soul it lost.
While ravens perched on marble stones
And winter winds sang low alone.

You spoke my name without a voice,
As though the dark still gave a choice.
The wind carried your sorrow near—
A melody the night could hear.

Then all at once the heavens cracked,
The moon behind the clouds pulled back.
And there beneath the bleeding light,
You vanished with the endless night.

But still I walk where shadows bloom,
Among the ivy and the tombs.
Hoping one dusk your hand I’ll find
    Still waiting somewhere beyond time.

    When the Clock Stops

    by Sam Tumblin

What happens when the clock stops still,
    Everything quiet beyond all will,
Like a weary tree once sharply chopped,
Life feels frozen when the ticking stops.

You look around but cannot see,
Fear grows thick too dark to flee,
    Shadows whisper without a name,
Nothing around feels quite the same.

You ask aloud if others know,
If they have seen the silence grow,
No answers rise no voices came,
You wonder if the clock you tame.

For one brief moment all goes blind,
The world escapes your fragile mind,
And though the darkness feels so deep,
The stopped clock lets your sorrows sleep.

    Cranium Indigo

    How you’re going to release
    What’s already been fleeced
Veins of rust beneath the skin
    Rotting slowly deep within

    Granules falling hand to grave
Nothing left for time to save
    Eyes grow hollow, voices thin
    Every loss absorbed within

    Nothing ever brings dismay
We become this life one day
Teeth of fate and fractured bone
Teach the soul to stand alone

These verses etched were born to bleed
From starving thoughts the dark will feed
I tip my brim to death’s cold call
    Answering questions others stall

    Cranium indigo won’t cease
    Even shadows beg release
Still the silence feeds the beast
    How you’re going to release
    What’s already been fleeced

    TRULY FREE BY SAM TUMBLIN

Would be nice to be truly free

Far from our gloomy dark history

    Hunger corruption enmity strife

    From birth our present life

Going down the gutter in ashes flames

Hasn’t this always been life claim to fame

    Conceived out coffin buried in

Repeat this regurgitation over the years again

One day we’ll break from what be

From life our dark history tuly free

    Moonlit Veins

    By Sam Tumblin

As we embrace the world fades away
Moonlit veins are the only thing that remains
Macabre stares of love like black diamonds stay
The kiss we share is delectable beneath moonlight rays

As you caress my intoxicated pale skin
Our moonlit veins rise to a fevered crescendo within
Roses with thorns cradle whispered thoughts untold
Two restless souls entwined against the cold

Shadows dance softly through the midnight air
A gothic romance lingering without despair
Your crimson lips breathe secrets into the night
While silver stars shimmer with haunting delight

Moonlit veins pulse beneath obsidian skies
Bound together where dark devotion lies
In this eternal trance our hearts remain
    Forever consumed by moonlit veins

    Crevice of Time
    By Sam Tumblin

I was taught the old were cold
    forgotten tales already told
    dust upon a broken mold

Yet through the crevice of time
    lingering echoes still feel divine
    though ravages of passing years
    turn memory into the sublime

    Perhaps nothing’s truly dead
    nothing lost or left behind
for over time I came to learn
the darkness lived within my mind

    Where Silence Belongs

    By Sam Tumblin

    the greatest love song

    is not always sung aloud

    sometimes it’s found in silence

    far away from every crowd

    sometimes being alone

teaches the soul to grow strong

through quiet nights and wandering thoughts

    you discover where you belong

    who cares if they condemn

or fail to understand your road

their voices fade like distant storms

while your spirit bears the load

    silence becomes a teacher

guiding the heart to move along

because in the stillness of yourself

you find your greatest love song

    Silent Escape By Sam Tumblin

    Silent Escape

    By Sam Tumblin

beyond the noise of crowded minds
rests a place the spirit finds
where heavy thoughts no longer cling
and wounded hearts begin to sing

through quiet skies the soul will glide
with fearless dreams now open wide
no chains remain no fear persists
    inside this calm eternal mist

life slows beneath a softer glow
    teaching weary hearts to grow
beyond the ache beyond the pain
    peace like summer’s gentle rain

“Peace begins where noise fades.” — Sam Tumblin
